Where It All Began

Our Story

We met virtually in January of 2022 for the first time. I was researching small community-based nonprofits that were working on the education sector in Ethiopia and I came across Demissew Getaneh, the founder of Take Care of Home. Initially drawn together by a shared passion for community service in the education sector of Ethiopia, what began as a routine Zoom meeting quickly transformed into a profound three-hour conversation. The depth of our connection became immediately apparent as two alike spirits, bound by an unwavering love and dedication to service, engaged in a heartfelt dialogue.

Fast forward one year, and Amaano by Take Care of Home was born. Fuelled by an overwhelming love and commitment to our homeland, communities, and the very places that shaped us, we felt an innate calling to actively participate in the development of our society. Education emerged as the focal point of our commitment, driven by the profound belief that it serves as a cornerstone in the holistic development of every child. In this shared vision, we found purpose, unity, and a powerful force propelling us forward on a journey of service and impact for the betterment of our nation.

At Take Care of Home, we are not just builders; we are dream weavers, architects of hope, and champions of change. Since our humble inception in 2014, Our hearts have been devoted to transforming the landscape of education in Ethiopia. Rooted in the belief that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves a nurturing environment to learn and grow, we have been fervently building and renovating public schools with an unwavering commitment to creating opportunities and fostering equality.

With a vision and commitment to broaden its impact and extend its array of services, Amaano by Take Care of Home is an esteemed affiliate of the Take Care of Home Network.  Amaano by Take Care of Home comprises a dynamic group of young Ethiopians deeply rooted in the values of ubuntu, understanding the interconnectedness of our shared humanity. Beyond bricks and mortar, our mission transcends the mere construction of classrooms and aims to fight poverty through making sure every child has access to quality Early Childhood Education and Care.

Join us in our unwavering commitment to sculpt a brighter, more promising future for the children of Ethiopia one child at a time. Together, let’s nurture and empower the leaders of tomorrow through a more comprehensive and holistic education initiatives.
